One tablet contains 3 mg of vitamin B2.
The excipients are : core: sucrose, lactose monohydrate, talc, potato starch, gum arabic, stearic acid, coating: talc, gum arabic, sucrose, quinoline yellow (E104), Opaglos 6,000 white (suspension consisting of ethanol, shellac, wax Carnauba (E903), beeswax (E901)).
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Vitaminum B2 Teva is administered orally, prophylactically as follows:
- Children from 4 years of age and adolescents: 1 to 2 sugar-coated tablets daily in divided doses.
- Adults: 1 to 3 sugar-coated tablets daily in divided doses.
Do not exceed the maximum daily dose.
If you have the impression that the effect of the drug is too strong or too weak, consult your doctor.
Action
Riboflavin is a catalyst in the oxidation of glucose, fatty acids and amino acids. Vitamin B2 is also involved in the twilight vision process. Together with vitamin A, it is necessary to maintain the proper function of the mucous membranes and the epithelium of the blood vessels. It also conditions the proper functioning of the nervous system and skin.
Indications
- prevention and supplementation of vitamin B2 deficiency,
- auxiliary: when taking diuretics, after antibiotic therapy, in disorders of the liver, stomach and intestines, associated with persistent diarrhea
- in chronic and debilitating diseases (diabetes, infections of various origins, skin inflammations, hyperthyroidism, psychosomatic diseases, alcoholism).
Contraindications
Do not take Vitaminum B2 Teva:
- if you are allergic to riboflavin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Vitamin B2 Teva can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
- skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: skin allergic reactions,
- gastrointestinal disorders nausea, vomiting.
Warnings and Precautions
Vitaminum B2 Teva contains lactose (44 mg) and sucrose (124 mg). If you have been diagnosed with an intolerance to some sugars, consult your doctor before taking the drug.
The drug contains quinoline yellow (E104), which may cause allergic reactions.
- Keep the drug out of the sight and reach of children.
- Store below 30 ° C.
Use of other medications
Tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking, or have recently taken, and about any medications you plan to use.
Do not use vitamin B2 together with tetracycline.
Cholinergic drugs (e.g. atropine) may affect the absorption of vitamin B2.
Alcohol and tobacco reduce the absorption of vitamin B2 from the gastrointestinal tract.
Among others: oral contraceptives, tricyclic antidepressants and phenothiazines used in high doses may reduce the effect of riboflavin.
Riboflavin activates the action of vitamin B6 and nicotinic acid.
Taking the drug with food and drink
Alcohol reduces the absorption of vitamin B2 from the gastrointestinal tract.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
At recommended doses, riboflavin can be used in pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Impact on laboratory tests
High doses of vitamin B2 may interfere with the test results:
- catecholamines in urine by fluorescence method,
- urobilinogen concentration (using Ehrlich’s reagent).
