Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a species of fungus mushroom that grows primarily on birch trees, especially in Russia, Siberia. The surface of the mushroom is black; when cut, it has a brownish color. The fruit grows to a size of 30-50 cm, weighs up to 3 kg and grows for 10-20 years. It feeds on the juices of its owner. It is harvested in autumn and spring, when it contains the highest concentration of active substances. The chaga weevil is found on elms, rowan trees, and ash trees, but, as experience shows, it is the chaga growing on birch trees that has the greatest healing effect.
This mushroom is truly legendary. Chaga has been used in Rus’ since ancient times as a well-known medicine. The famous Prince Vladimir Monomakh himself, who suffered from lip cancer, was treated with chaga.
